Sorry if this is long winded....
I haven't really played bass in 6 years or so. I've been focusing on my business.
I was in working bands nonstop for 25+ years. Playing mostly in variety bands.
I always knew I would get back into it to some level eventually.
I got the itch last winter for a Shoreline Gold P bass. I LOVE the relic vibe.
So I decided to order an MJT P bass body in SLG nitro lacquer. I ordered the body in mid April. It took 7 weeks longer then they originally said, but it was worth the wait.
I really wanted a roasted maple neck from Warmoth. I found this neck on their website.
It must have been right after they posted it. I looked an hour earlier and it wasn't there.
I found it and snatched it up.
The pickup is a Fralin 10% overwound. Found it here on TB used.
Tuners are Gotoh reverse, also found used here.
The rest of the parts were Fender parts. I may eventually replace the pickguard.
Here's the best part of the story.
My good friend (TB user Jedibass) offered to do the assembly and fretwork.
He did an amazing job doing a rolled edge on the fingerboard.
The Buffalo Head Nickel for a string retainer was his idea, and I LOVE it.
I've owned numerous Laklands that were PLEK'd. This bass is right up there with them.
Amazing setup and attention to detail.
The logo on the headstock is Jedibasses logo. Mad Man Music.
He is currently building me another bass with the body by MJT, neck by Allparts.
That one will be a 54 P in Candy Apple Tangerine. Stay Tuned.
