First off Nice Forum, suggestions please

I'm new to the TalkBass Fourms but must admidt fromwhat I have read trough this place seems to be very helpful.

I recently started playing bass and currently have the following gear.

An Ibanez SRX2EX2 series Bass the SDGR type while the bass seems to be fine, I'm looking for an upgrade to somthing that is of of better quality and a bit easier to play ( I have adjusted the action, etc according the several resourses posted within the TalkBass fourms)

I am currently using a G/K Backline 600 head with a G/K 4x10 and a 1x15 cabinets I very happy with amp sound along with both a Boss BE-20 and a digitech bass effects pedal the green one

I am looking at trying out and possibly buying another 4 stringer. Im playing alot of 70-80 rock big hair and some current metal the Ibanez seems to do fine with all these types although Im looking manily for something punchy with good playability. I'm looking in the 800-1200 dollar range so if you have had good resuts with the above types of music and can recomend a model that fits in the range please let me know.

Well, two options stick out the most to me: First, an 80's Charvel/Jackson- they were "the" metal basses in the hair years, and they were very high quality in both sound and playability, and you can pick them up used on Ebay within your price range. Second, an SDGR of a higher price point than the one you have now. The top-of-the-line SDGR's are great basses, with excellent tone and playability. There are loads of other options though, depending on your tastes.

You can find a good price on an old Kramer too. That's another quintessential 80's metal bass.
