We were just getting ready to gig when lock-down hit in March, which has pushed us a few steps back. But it was good to get together again and make some music, even if we both forgot some of the arrangements. We did it outside, socially distanced, and it was nice to hear the music in the trees again.

We used to practice inside, gathered around the piano, generally all acoustic, so this was a little different for us. Good to practice with a PA once in a while, of course, even for us acoustic purists.

Just piano/bass/vox this time, but we've got room for the drums.

The crowd went wild:

Actually, the pianist's dog went wild when the audience (a deer) ambled up the ravine.

We're a couple rehearsals away from being front porch ready, then I think we'll do a socially-distanced show for the neighbors.

Side note: modern lightweight PA gear is so nice... a couple class-D powered 12" tops and a tiny little mixer is all we need. No amp racks or outboard gear, and it's good enough to handle bass, piano and vox for rehearsals and small shows with plenty of headroom.

That's good news. A a nice report as well. Glad things are coming together for you. (I'm a big fan of powered speakers myself and have seven myself, I run several different sized PA's with the five mixers I own. Depends on the show.) Looking forward to some front porch concert photos. Enjoy...

Way cool! Good for you. I am envious, of both the opportunity to rehearse and the surroundings.
Playing my bass and being in the woods are two of my favorite things. Doing both at the same time, along with a talented singer/pianist is next level.:D

The new "Gig Report." Good luck! The first (and only, so far) time me and the boys got together in the saxophonist's shady back yard, we all sounded like poo. But it sure was good to play together again and to hang. Heck, even humping the gear was kind of fun.
It's funny, I actually kind of had fun stringing together the KB and PA, and making a little stage-like setup on the deck. Different from the practice studio setup with a piano up against a wall, and fun to see how a really simple PA can work great for us. I plugged straight into the board and sounded fine!

The part you pluck is on the big roundish part of wood. The part you put fingers on to press strings and make different notes work is the thin, long part of wood, mostly right next to the big metal round things attached to that end.

It probably says Fender on it somewhere. If not, ask again and we'll help you remember how to play other bass designs.

note: yea, I see you play upright. Never mind...

Wrong thread, perhaps? Or maybe I'm just missing something.
