First Single from upcoming album - Iced Ink 'Big Dumb SoB'

Hey!
Would love to get some feedback on...well, everything!
This is our Single from our upcoming album - releasing on May 4th - called Raceway To Fun
But one of the things I would love some feedback on for sure is the actual recording.

We tried something totally new for us with the recording of this upcoming album.
We rented an AirBnB in a remote part of Honesdale, PA.
The criteria for the space was that it had a nice big, open room for recording.
Luckily, we are only a 3 piece - guitar, bass, drums - instrumental band. We found a beautiful house with an almost A-Frame style great room - tall ceilings that were almost 2 stories tall. We set up the drums in as close to the center of the room as possible. Both the guitarist and I (bass) have small amps. THis was good for this situation for controlling overall volume and also easy placement and moving.
The room sound was excellent! We were so lucky! Because honestly we just had to guess, right? We weren't able to hear the room until we got there and set up.
Our great friend, and an excellent recording engineer, has a mobile recording rig. He set up close mics and room mics to get that nice organic room sound.

I really like the music (a lot of cool twists and turns in there), and the production is top notch. You might want to rent that AirBnB more often!

It sounds really good. Well-mixed and produced. But since it's an instrumental track, I would like to hear a melodic line of some sort -- something to catch my ear. I really like the change in rhythms now and then. Good stuff!

Right. So you don't feel like the guitar lines especially and sometimes the bass lines provide that melodic line? You're still missing a sort of single through-line?

Very cool organic recording process, and really solid production/mix: I just have one critique/suggestion for the future single releases from this recording session.

There's a pretty fatiguing presence resonance on the guitar in the center channel at around 4.8K.

The whole mix opens up with that frequency notched down on the center channel a good amount, around 8dB with a narrow Q, but ideally you'd do that prior to mastering on the guitar track itself.

I actually did it for you on the attached mp3 if you'd like to check it out.

I'd also love to hear a vocal on the song, might be worth an online collaboration for an alternate version with some cross promotion for a future release: sounds almost like something Winery Dogs or a similar band might play.

Sounds really good : in fact, the sound of the room really reminds me of another studio - I'm just really wracking my brain trying to figure out which one.

It’s rockin’ and has some familiarity in the good way. As in you feel like you know it but it’s still unique. The mix is good (on my phone so..) I can hear all the parts, nothing is too out front. And you already know this, best title ever, ever. And repeating, best title ever.

Sounds good! I do think the bass could be a little louder, guitar kinda dominates the mix a tad too much. Reminds me of the Aristocrats.

Overall sound quality is good. Bass needs to be louder and needs vocals or some melodic line as others have stated.

Sounds great, but I'll agree with some others about introducing some melodic parts. That clean sounding part at around 1:45 would be a perfect lead guitar melody part. Just something simple and catchy overdubbed there.

Was it an intentional, tongue-in-cheek thing to give your band a name that, when said out loud, sounds like "I Stink"?

I'm not saying you/your band stink, at all...that name, though, could cause...issues...?

I like the lines, but they're not quite memorable. Think Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, or Eric Johnson.
