first song

Not so much a song, but an album. Christian McBride's bass playing on Diana Krall's Love Scenes album made me convince my dad to by my first bass. And of course I bought a Jazz bass because I wanted to play Jazz. :D I thought it would be so easy. :(

I would have said Voodoo Child, but after recent studying I found my guitar player gave me the skeleton of the song, not the actual bassline. So it was probably something from RATM of For Whom The Bell Tolls.

The bassline from "Roundabout" by Yes.
It always just blew me away.
And then flea was an inspiration; he showed me how being a bassist could actually be cool to non-bassists. lol.

And after I got my first bass, I started listening to Mountain.
If it wasn't for Felix Pappalardi I doubt I would be half the bassist I am today.

I used to just listen to a song three or four times and listen to a different instrument each time, so I never really noticed the bass first with any song. Actually, from doing that so long, it's now kinda hard for me to listen to a piece of music as a whole without picking out an instrument. It's a little easier with classical music though.
