First stack, YAY!!!

I know its lame to be posting a thread about getting a new stack, its not even an expensive one, but I've seen it done before. Maybe this could turn out to be a good thread, since I havent seen too many like this. How about I show my setup first, then you show me your first nice setup that you worked hard and saved for, not like, your first combo am, but first nice stack or whatever. Doest have to be a rig of doom. Here's mine!

This is a peavey tour 450 head i got from ebay for $340(with S&H)

I havent tried them out at gig volume yet, but I got my first gig with my new band friday so i'll see if this rig really shines then, so far, it sounds killer, had to turn down the tweeters because of a hum, but I woulda done that f they didnt hum so no biggy, and what can you expect for $250, other than that it sounds killer!

killer stack man! how does that sonic 610 sound? i've kinda been intrigued by them.

I've played it mostly only at low volume, I cranked it at the store, but they only had an old 25 watt traynor for me to try it out on, but from what I've heard, the whole frequency range is there, even with the tweeters turned down the highs are really good, u can turn them up if u need that sparkle, they did have a low hum, but at gig volume that wont matter. It handles my B-string like a dream though, I love the bassiness of this thing.

AWESOME stack tho!!!!im jealous big time

one of the reasons i love peavy amps is because they always have parametric EQs and come with plenty of power

That's not a parametric. It's a graphic EQ.

With the lowest band boosted that high, you can expect to suck up a lot of amp power for the lowest notes. You also have to be careful to avoid tearing up speaker cones due to overexcursion.

Meh, I think i'll be fine, the bass on my spector was set all the way up, then I turned it flat to compensate for the peavey's eq, besides, I havent played it at gig volume yet, so I may tame the bass if its needed so u may very well be right, but I wouldnt let anything bad happen to my new baby.

When I was amp shopping last year I tried that Peavey Tour 450 and really liked the tone and the price. That's quite a nice setup you've got now and should serve you well for years to come.:)

My first "stack" was a 50-watt Ampeg tube head and a 2x15 cabinet. It was pretty loud but sounded like a wet fart.:spit:
Yeah, that thing was all mud for tone. Yet somehow those old Ampegs are worth a bit of $ nowadays.

Congrats on your first stack mate. That's killer!

My first was a Peavey MKIII amp with an old Fender Bassman 412 Silverface cab. I brought it all back in 1992 and added another fender 412 cab a year later.
The Peavey cost me $500 2nd hand at the time and the cabs I got for a steal at $100 each!
I used them right up until a couple of years ago when my old Peavey blew up for the third time and decided it was time to upgrade everything which I did........as you can see in my sig. (I kinda got bad GAS once I got a taste of Eden gear!)

Nice, I take it you've never been drowned out by your guitards!
