Last night I had band practice with my band and tried A set of LaBella Stainless rounds for the first time and WOW !!! We play some country and rock I was skeptical at first when I was at home practicing by myself but when Played in the mix and eq'd with the band they shined through and were beautiful . Nice punch and clarity and beautiful clear low end . I would suggest to any interested to give em a shot they are worth it . As I said alone you might doubt them but in the mix man they shine !!!

First Time Stainless Rounds

I played stainless rounds on my Modulus Bass and I loved how they played. Our sound guy loved how they blended into the mix too. Very tight and punchy without losing bottom.
My Deluxe Jazz had nickle rounds and on that bass THEY sounded great. Not quite as punchy but very smooth with lots of bottom but a little less snap in the higher register.
The Modulus was more enjoyable to play and record with but harder to play when I had to do a lot of vocals. That's why I bought the Jazz.

Blindbassist on my particular bass a Washburn with P style pickups the stainless rounds fit perfect and sound great on this bass . Nickels in my situation just did not cut through the mix as well to my ears on this bass , the nickels had a rounder softer less punchy tone . Rounder softer tone with less punch is by all means not bad , it just did not cut it for me in my band . As Soulman said various strings can sound different on individual basses and can be a matter of personal preference .
I might point out that the stainless on the Modulus was a lower tension set but the 35" scale made them very playable. To me it always felt like the nickels were a tauter string yet on a shorter scale, not vice versa, but that may be just my imagination.
For whatever it's worth I always thought that rounds of either type sounded better on Jazz Basses or Jazz Style Basses and flats better on PBasses but that just my taste. Your ears may tell you something different.
