Fishman Fission Pedal

My friend is the A&R fellow for Fishman, and he hipped me to their new Fission bass pedal. Basically, it's like an 8-string bass in a box. Foot switchable combinations of 1+ and 2+ octaves, 5th above, 4th below, and it's got some drive on board too. I've been using it to pretty good effect lately and really digging it. It tracks BRILLIANTLY no matter what you do to it, (because I think it's monophonic compared to a polyphonic EH POG) and it sounds great driving other fuzz and drive pedals instead of the in-pedal stuff (which is a little blasé, but quite useable too.)

That's my friend Corey playing in the demo. They went a little effect blend overboard on the vid. Not a super great example… But it's a pedal worth checking out. I'm loving it. My only real complaint is that it takes up a bit of board real estate (about the same size as a Tonebone.)

Yeah. It's cool. The site really could benefit with some specific sound examples. The video just doesn't do it justice. Maybe I'll record a couple. I've used it live a bunch already, piddled with it a bit in the studio, and aside from that, playing STP, Pearl Jam, and Who tunes with the 1+ octave setting never gets old. He he he. :^P

I've been using one for the last 2 months in a trio rock gig and find it quite beneficial at filling up the space during leads and real heavy tunes. I mostly just use the octave up with some overdrive. the 4th below and 5th above can start making your sound to indestinct, unless your playing very slow. Well worth the money spent.
