It’s a joke as long as it does not happen …
Anyway, it’s always a good idea to have a working backup pickup with you.
And when I had a FC I was not aware that an impact on the top of the bridge might destroy the pickup. So others might not have think of that either.

That's actually how Fishman instructs people to do it. Down is my preference, but whatever works for you...

Mine failed on a gig after 3 years. Liked it while it worked. Went back to Realist.

Realist Copper Foil or Realist Lifeline? The reason I asked this is because I had two different designs Realists (Copper Foil) fail the original design (two round elements) and the second one. Both of them failed at around the four year mark. Just my take.

I dislike the Realist copper intensely and know nothing about the lifeline other than that Endea Owens seems to play one. So… Realist lifeline.

I have six different pickups.

None of them work perfect for all occasions; every one has let me down at one point.

It is a whole lot easier to replace a $40 Vic's model B & have a spare or two handy (even though I've never had one go bad).

The sad reality is that it is often just me and one other bass nerd in the audience who ever notices....
