Double Bass Fishman Full Circle: Threads Up or Down?

I'm just curious how many of you Full Circle users have the threads up for that woody ambient sound and how many have them down for that stringy sound.

Currently I have the body of the pickup toward the strings (threads down, I guess) and plan to change it when I get a new bridge cut. Way too pickupy sounding, on the E and A side especially.

The Full Circle should be received soon at my local luthier. They don't keep them in stock. It was supposed to come in today, but since it didn't, it's like 99% sure to come in tomorrow. Problem is I have work tomorrow during their open hours so I will have to wait until Monday anyway.

Slightly off of topic...
My fathers SUV will not be around next week so I will either have to fit my DB into a Lexus IS 250 or bring it on the bus/subway. Are either of these recommended?

Yeah, put it in the Lexus. S'not hard -- check out the thread in OT about basses in sedans. It's a pretty easy setup.

My pickup is facing the top of the bass. It sounds
more like a Realist. If I change the bridge, I think
I'd go for the pickup facing the strings for a clearer
more punchy sound.

I pair it with Obilgatos on an old german flatback.

Sounded good to me and not too stringy.

My full circle is sounding sweet in jam (in my house with friends) situations.

I just had an FC installed on my hybrid last weekend and the pickup is facing the body.

I'm not thrilled with the sound - not enough highs and more nasal than I would have expected.

I'm spending tomorrow dealing with this - hopefully I can get the sound in my head (and my instrument) to come out of my amp by the 3 day weekend.

Threads down, mixed with a mic. I like it for the pickup half of the equation.

Threads down, simply because I retrofitted it into a bridge that was already configured that way. Would like to try it the other way, as it sounds a little more "strident" than I would like it to. Would also like to try mixing it with a mic sometime.

Reviving old thread here... Anyone try both and have a comparison comment? I've got mine thread down now but I'd like to see what the thread up sounds like. I'm curious to know if it's a large difference.

Also, anyone know if Upton bridges have threads in bridge tops and feet to allow for this experiment? Is that even possible? I don't want to take the strings down for nothing.

A bridge with adjusters will have the threads either up in the legs or down in the feet. Opposite the threads will be a round hole with no threads where the other end of the adjuster goes. I've never seen an adjuster with threads on both sides.

Thanks Chris. I was afraid of that and that's what made sense, too. Just thought I'd throw the question out there. Probably better to have the string articulation with guts than not.

I'm still hoping someone could comment on the difference if they made the effort to change bridge, etc.

BTW Chris... Might see you this summer for the Jazz camp. Love your playing.

Thanks, and hope to see you there! As regards the Full Circle, I doubt that it makes that much difference one way or the other. It's still the same basic sound IME.
