I can say, it resolves a lot of things, I'm not really a double bass player but it can sound without being it.

I applaud your dedication. I think that the essential problem with most if not all piezo transducers is how they reproduce the sustain and decay of each note. The tail end of each note has a slight fuzz tone. The Pro Platinum pre can help correct that to some extent, but it still there. Just my take however

Thanks, well... There are so many solutions with the preamp and the amp, it doesn't bother me from where I started, it's more than I expected about it.
And I do know how it sounds acoustically (not so bad they say) and without the preamp (not so bad for them, horrible for me : all the zing zing sounds are amplified, even in tune it sounds out of tune).
With the preamp it's better, there is a bottom end, maybe I put too much compression and low cut.

I had one for years. Never used the built in compression but the low cut was essential. Was a huge upgrade for me at the time.

I know a guy that plays 150+ gigs a year with one. Upright, guitar, fiddle. It’s a solid preamp.

I didn't try it on my bass amp but on an old (kind of dead, heavy and obsolete) keyboard amp and it sounded good, the feedback can be controlled, the EQ is very sensitive.

I use one for my cello. As good a piezo arco sound as I've found using a Realist copperhead. The notch filter dampens out the frequency where feedback starts, and the midrange sweep is really helpful to manage boxiness. A little bass boost for pizz support.

I use one often and call it my “secret weapon.” It really solves a lot of the issues I had before. Wish I would’ve gotten one and started using it sooner.
