LOL, no worries. DO you typically play a light gauge? These are Uber-slinky. (If you've seen my other Aquilastring Set#1 posts were similar to these-very excitable!) Hmmm I bet though... on fretless the roundwound might give 'decades' of Mwahhhh ;) And a heads up that they are very noisy in shifts (check out the demo as I shift up the neck theres alot of string noise.)

Just revisiting this thread for another listen.

I noticed that no-one, including me, responded to your gear question, so here goes:
  • I liked hearing the contrast between the DI pickup out, and mic'd with the Studio Projects C4 on Soundcloud.
  • Not hot on the Warm Audio...
I found it hard to evaluate the low end as recorded on the iPhone.

I suspect that the Medium Lights would be more to my taste feel-wise. Do they sound equally rich down low when the bass is plugged in direct?

Hey Steve, Thanks for input! I thought it might be a better experience to add the Pickup along with a room mic (for contrast/compare). I was surprised early on how good the iPhone recording 'could be' but getting the phone in the sweetspot for audio and camera-angle every time turnout to be too much of a hassle. The iPhone alone compresses the tone and loses the low end-especially the B.

I too like the C4mkII, after doing a bunch of these and A/Bing both mics (as well as the C4mkIIs as a near-coincident pair) I went with simplicity of the LDC. The WA47jr seemed to handle the lows a little smoother. Also the C4 tended to pickup more high mids = NYC traffic LOL. (In the future, im gonna try to develop a simple baffle system in the apt to get better options.)

YES, the Med-lights were surprisingly rich down low with the pickup DI! check out the video @0:19, and 0:43. and keep in mind this is "direct" with no eq—just coming from the undersaddle pickup! Putting it in a signal chain with eq comp etc —there's plenty of room to sculpt the sound IMO!;)
