Double Bass Fix dents? In bass..

With a small dent you can often raise the surface again using water. Get a little in an eyedropper and place it just in the dent so it can soak in. Let it rest overnight, see whether it's come up, and repeat as necessary.

Patina/battle scars. Inevitable. I wouldn't mess with it.

If it were my bass I would leave it - more will come. But if you are intent on fixing it I would scrape the finish off the dent and place a wet cloth over the dent and apply a hot soldering iron on the cloth right on the dent. The steam created will most likely swell the wood back up eliminating the dent. Then just a touch up of colour and finish.

I wouldn't want water, steam or heat anywhere near a plywood bass.

If you play that bass any great amount at all, by the time you come to sell it it will have much worse dings and dents. Just wait until you bang the ribs against a door frame, or walk the scroll into a rotating ceiling fan.

If you read the actual thread, you'll notice I don't care about living with it.. it's selling it and having to be talked down price-wise because of a dent.. why not Pray that the buyer doesn't see it!...

Yes, but tell the buyer that Jeff Tain Watts dinged it when he was adjusting a cymbal. That ought to get you at least an additional $300 for the bass
