I love my Squier DJAV, but lately the B has been a bit well ...umm...floppy???...
ok...so what's going on? ... the Fender stainless strings were well-and-truly dead now (been on since May). So I switched them out for a set of D'Addario XL-175's...
The B went from a 0.125 stainless to a 0.130 nickel...but the B, did not improve...it was still a bit "rattly"...
I noticed that the nut slot was a little low, so I folded a piece of notebook paper and stuck it in the slot...B problem SOLVED! yes, just like that I now have it back to where it was when I bought the bass...
of course, this is only a temporary solution, as a more long-term, I will do a re-slot on the bridge tomorrow night (I use the CA glue/baking soda method)...this type of repair can usually last anywhere from a few weeks to a few months...eventually, I will probably replace the nut altogether with a new one...but, I'm not in any hurry...
just for you all to think about...sometimes a "floppy" B string is really just a "buzzy" B and a proper action correction (nut slot = action on the other end, ya know) is the ticket.
