They're EVERYWHERE... It's like an airborne virus, it just spreads and spreads until everyone is infected.
Here's my 2 part rant:
So I've been playing with these two guys for about six months, and I feel that I've gotten really close with them. They are cousins but aren't too close other than the music, and they've been playing together for about 2 years. Upon joining with them, I felt like everything was really promising. Other than the fact that we couldn't find a drummer, there was no drama.
So that's part 1 of my rant- DRUMMERS ARE FLAKES. We put up a very nice add on cl looking for our fourth member. "Alt/indie/modern rock band with practice space looking for serious drummer to fill our set. 7 songs ready for the studio. record, gig, practice 2x week." Look's good right? Well we get like three responces from potential percussionists and set up dates to meet with all three at our space to feel them out.
Number's one (female with pop backround- AWESOME) cancels on us an hour before her audition.. on a day where we changed up our schedual to meet with her, no less. Number two (punky mid 20's guy) shows up and jams hard, leaving us pretty happy and promising, but on his way out says "ehhh idk if dis is for meh." We were blown away, because our band DESERVES a sick drummer. And number three lied in his responce and ended up being a 50 year old washed up drunk so we never called him back.
So, things aren't looking very good for my little band. It just seems like no one appreciates or respects the work that we put into this prjoect. But we keep moving forward. Writing songs, practicing 2x weekly, making the best of it.
THEN (queue rant part 2)
My vocalist decides to walk because of a lack of "creative expression." I'm like what. the. fudge.
It came from nowhere, was totally unrelated to any of our other problems, and didn't make any sense. My guitarist and I were giving him all the freedom he wanted to write lyrics and sing songs the way he wanted. He is actually a damn good singer but, he hadn't really written anything since we moved into our new practice space 3 months ago. My guitarist would just come in with a sheet full of lyrics and say, "here try these dude." And Bon Jovi would just go along with it and add no creativity.
Basically what I'm saying is that he had no reason to walk on us like that. If anything, we should be the ones searching for a new frontman as well as drums... But we're mates, and we just don't do that. I feel like I'm the perfect bandmate, if you don't like my style and I respect your opinion, I'll change it to make us both happy. I don't just walk out on you and leave you in the cold.
AND this is all happening the day after I personally have our logo made, and make a sticker order- totaling around $220!!!! What am I gonna do with 1000 stickers with a band that isn't really together anymore?!?!??!? lol... idk, its sad.
Do I stick with our current project and piece things back together basically from scratch with the guitarist, or do I eat the stickers and try to join up with a more complete band?
Soo much drama.
