Too much? If you got one show it to me. I've got an awesome flamed maple blank here waiting to be made into a neck. I'm kinda wondering if figured wood and blocks is just to dang busy. I'm more of a rosewood guy, but this blank is beautiful.

Flame maple with blocks and binding???

It'd be neat if you could do the blocks as a sort of semi-transparent black stain. That way from far away it would appear to have blocks, but up close it would still show off the grain of the wood.
