I use two flangers MXR M117R for warm more musical flange and Boss BF-2 for a colder more cutting tone. Both are terrific quality wise, just different.

A few months ago I built a modified A/DA clone. Compared to others, the A/DA has a very dramatic sweep range from low to high. It can also work as a chorus at longer delay settings with less modulation. However, if I were buying a new flanger, I'd probably look at the Strymon Orbit and Line 6 Liqua-Flange.

MXR 117. I like it. It's tough. Works just fine on a daisy chain power supply (18 volts though). Wide range of tones. Sounds good. Built like a tank.

Never tried any other flangers but I just picked up an old BOSS BF-2B and am having lots of fun with it.

I use a Line 6 Liqua-Flange (super versatile) and a modded DOD analog flanger.

I have a Liqua-Flange, too. Excellent and, like you say, very versatile. Pass-through-zero flanging.

Have an extra, New In Box unit just sitting on the shelf that I got for back-up. Have never needed it. They're built like a Tiger tank!

Thanks... could do more. The A/DA clone can go from subtle to extreme. I'd made a few changes which made mine a little more open sounding than stock.

Look for one of the old MIJ Yamaha FL-100 or FL-10/FL-10MII from the '80s.

I have the FL-100 and it is awesome, very analog, goes from swirly/eerie/light chorus to jet plane and all the in-between sounds are great!!

There's a guitar and a bass version, but mine is the guitar one and it will cut low end only in deeper flanging settings with lots of feedback. Mild settings will keep your tone and give a fantastic swirl to it.

I'll try to record some sound samples.

I really dig the ADA flanger. I use it for more of the chorus effect, but when I want a deep flanger, it's got more than I usually need.
Not to mention it's indestructible.

Hey thanks to everyone who helped with my last thread about phasers. Now I am also on the lookout for a flanger. It seems much harder to find info on flangers and bass. Anyone have some advice or some experience with certain flangers? Seen a little bit about a polychorus and some other chorus/flanger pedals. Are all the good flangers chorus pedals also? are there decent dedicated flangers?

If you want a good flanger pedal that can fit on your pedalboard, the mxr micro flanger pedal would be a good choice.
