Flat Preamp When Using EQ on Pedal?

I've always kept the EQ on my amp flat, because I use a Preamp Pedal. I've heard that otherwise, it is "double stacking" eq's. Is this conventional wisdom, or are there no hard and fast rules. What do others do?

Just use understanding that you have 2 points of control. Either one, or both are fine but my general advice is to use as little as possible to get the results you need.
