Flat wound for specific sound

I just bought a Fender Mustang JMJ bass. I’m after that super hollow, woody, punchy, picked bass tone like Andrew Bird’s bass tones, and Andy Shauf’s. I know I can get there with this bass, but I’m wondering if someone has a thought on a brand of flatwounds that might help me on my way. It came with Fender flatwounds on it. It’s possible those will be fine in a month or so - but if someone knows they won’t, and knows what I need, I’d appreciate the help so I can get them on there now.

And - in case someone is gonna tell me I bought the wrong bass, I have already heard one in my studio and it’s the exact tone I am looking for. The bass player didn’t know what kind of strings he had on there tho.

La Bella DTF or GHS P Flats.

Dunlop Flats are a good alternative for something in between old school and new.

There is a set of La Bella Flats that are specifically designed for the thru-body Mustang - 760FL-MUS (43-60-82-104). They're more old-school than the Fender 9050s.

For Dunlop (mentioned above), make sure to get the "medium scale" with 34" winding length (ball end to taper/silk).

Right on - thank you - I’ll check those out. The Fenders on here now don’t seem like they are the right ones. When I play along with the recorded bass from the session I was referencing, the two sound pretty different. I think some different strings are gonna help a lot.
