Flatwound Question

D'addario Chromeflats, Thomastik Jazz Flats, Fender Flats, LaBella Deep talkin' Flats. The D'addarios are Decent sounding nice thump and decent top and mids 30-38 bucks.
Thomastik are more low mid And upper losw but sound great and are killers tone wise. Decent thump but good mids and top too not as articulate as roundwounds but then would you expect flats to be 35-45 bucks. Fender flats inexpensive 20bucks and the classic fender tone good thump and mids but not a lot of top. A good set for an experiment but the tension on these is very hight compared to the rest. SIT Power flats Way High tension but also very good overall sound from the low end thump to clean highs and everything in between. Labella Deep Talkin Flats are just that Think James Jamerson and the Motown Bass sound . Deep defines and bloomy highs atr there and mids are good. This Is just IMHO and YMMV Everyones Tastes are different. I would say because the SIT's and fenders are both around 20.00 they would be the way to go for an experiment but you will need to do at least one truss rod adjustment with either of these string sets due to higher than normal tension. The only ones I have found to not need truss rod adjustments are the Thonastilk Jazz flats actually lower tension and some people don't like them because the don't feel as tight as other flat strings and at average 40.00 a set not cheap but flats last until they break as they sound better the duller they get. and they could save you the cost of a set up if you don't do your own work.

I use Thomastik Jazz Flats. Expensive, and not great out of the box, but they get amazing after they're broken in. Awesome tone. Last forever. Highly recommended.
Do the "Chromes" have multi-colored ball ends and blue silk? (I'm trying to identify a set of strings I have here at home.)
