Flatwound recommendations for a 5-string E-c 33" scale bass

Title says it: I am looking for flatwounds for my Ibby Volo.

I only came on here to see how long till someone recommended TI's.

I wasn't disappointed.

My recommendation would be TI's as well. I can't wait to try them on my 6 string, I have heard great things about their C string.

D’Addario makes a .032 Chromes high C that you can buy as a single. Easy to add to any four-string set of Chromes. I’d do ECB80 (40-95) plus the high C.

If you are talking about an Ibby BTB845V, I had one of those for some time while I had a custom 33-inch scale neck made for my Ibby SRA305. I converted it to B-G tuning. If your headstock has a 2+3 arrangement, with the BE tuners on one side and the ADG tuners on the other, then it should be able to take regular long scale strings.

If you are retaining the stock E-C tuning, again, just about any long scale strings should work. Remembering the mantra about choosing strings, on my bass the ball to tuner side of the nut measures about 34 3/4 inches. The ball to the center of the B tuner measures about 37 1/2 inches. So any typical long scale strings, and GHS medium scale strings with their 35 1/2 inch winding length work.

Attached is a picture of the headstock of the BTB845V I used to have. The B string is a D'Addario XL130. It has a 37.1 length before the taper. Notice it just fits to the edge of the tuner post without binding. If you look closely, you can see the taper of my E string is in the same place. Also attached is a picture of my custom neck showing the same thing.
