Hello,
Curious if I’m missing some new technology on the recent Fender 7250s I just got after there being shortage.

There is a 1/4 inch bound winding right at the pick up area? As if the E winding was added?
I opened the other set and I’m 2 for 2. Only on the A.?

Thank you going forward!

(Sorry, I can't resist) I thought extra windings were discontinued when Leo finally got a steel string set instead of using modified gut double bass strings? :woot:

Maybe it's a prototype of a 70th anniversary set then. Of course, these days all those vegan bassists wouldn't only consider buying a gut set. But D'Addario could use their Zyex cores :rollno:

It's strange given the fact that in a strings special of Bass Player 25 years ago, Jim D'Addario was very adamant about about a string having to be equal in diameter and mass-per-unit-length from one end to the other, in order to divide itself adequately into equal vibrating parts in the overtone series. But then, only a few years late they did optionally offer taperwound strings :cautious:

And researchers like Dr. Kemp show that inharmonicity is decreased with a little bit more mass is added on the string right at the bridge:
New revolutionary strings?
