After 5-10" of rainfall in an evening. A lot of my area is totally flooded. I got off really lucky. I guess I live on a hill. I had a small trickle in my basement. My bands practice spot, however, didn't fair so well. There was 5 or 6" of water in a basement that has never flooded before. My Ampeg 8x10e had a high water mark on it up to the bottom set of speakers. Thank goodness I took my rack and my bass home. Our guitarist had about $10,000 worth of guitars, cases, PA and effects that were all wet. Not to mention all the carpeting, rugs and misc. stuff that's ruined. His basement was in really good shape compared to a lot of people. I'm just glad that not too many people were hurt or killed. Only one man, so far, is missing.
I've live in this area my whole life. This kind of disaster has never happend here before. So, no one has flood insurance because it's really expensive. Imagine loosing everything you own in 1 night.
Check out the news footage: Make sure you watch the "Perspective from above" footage. It is better at showing how widespread the flood is.
