My cousin is braving it in Sarasota. Let us know how you fare!
The hurricane made landfall at Siesta Key, about 15 miles from here. The winds were fierce, but we were very fortunate that we really only sustained minor damage in our neighborhood. However, our homes are newer and built to current hurricane specs, plus we have mostly underground utilities. Older areas and anything near the water is a different story. The wind gusts at Sarasota/Bradenton Airport were clocked at 102 mph. Tampa was very lucky that it didn't take the direct hit that was predicted, though Milton tore the roof off of Tropicana Field.
