Can somebody recommend me a good cheap foam material to put under my strings? I found air conditioning weatherstrip online. Will that work? Thanks.

I need some of that!I use a piece of grey foam that came in a hard drive box. Most computer parts boxes have
that same foam...not too dense, not too soft...just right. you can cut it easily for a nice custom
fit too.
That's exactly what I do, and it works well.Yes. I use the adhesive backed weather stripping and stick two pieces together back to back.
I just ordered the ashtray set for my p. pretty hyped! I got the individual pickup cover for my other precision. So hopefully if this stuff works I don't have to take it out like my old mutes. That's exactly what I do, and it works well.
Or, on a Fender or Fender style bass, you can stick one piece on the underside of a bridge cover.
