So I was making a delivery at work (I'm a work study at Berklee) and shared an elevator ride with Bobby Mcferrin. I went back to work and told my co-workers about it and one of'm asked if I said anything to him. I didn't because he was already talking with someone and I didn't want to bother him.

Later I looked him up on Youtube and found this gem with him and Richard Bona

A great video that really shows how musical Richard is.

Sounds like he'll be around school a bit. His daughter just started there.

That's been one of my favorite youtube clips for about a year now. The first time I saw it I ended up watching it over and over again for about 2 hours....

What are the specs of the bass you're waiting on?

I posted it in the previous version of the thread, I think. I have two on order, actually, but the first one is a 33" Garrison 5 with the body size reduced quite a bit, katalox top/back/ramp/pup covers, birdseye board, dot inlays, 5-pc ash/ebony neck, flame maple body and TBD tone block. The pickups are Lane Poors.

I can't wait for it.

Nice specs. I'm really curious about how the ash/ebony neck will sound. Looks like this will be a pretty bright bass.

I don't think the ebony will really have any perceptible effect on the instrument's sound- the stringers they use are really thin. I'd actually rather they used thicker ones as I love the tone of ebony in necks.

I don't think the sound will be appreciably different to an ash/walnut bass. Maple sounds pretty similar to walnut. My ash/maple/katalox Benavente sounds very similar to the ash/walnut/chestnut Garrison I used to have. We'll see!

The 2nd Fodera I have on order should be substantially darker sounding- wenge/mahogany.

Oh ok. I was thinking that a maple body might be brighter (generally) than walnut. Good to know.

That's probably the "general consensus", but I've never experienced that to be the case. Just like my ebony bass- people assumed it would be bright as hell, but it wasn't at all- very dark and thick sounding. It didn't even approach ash/maple levels of brightness.

Thanks guys! The best news is that this new platform will enable us to VASTLY improve the quantity and timeliness of information that we can provide as making changes to the site is fairly simple.

The Newborn section is a cornerstone of this as you will be able to watch our new babies progress out into the world...LOL.
