a little off topic but one of my bands just sent me one of the final takes of a video we made for the first single off our new album, Blue & White, called "Novocaine". I recorded this track with my Imperial 5 Elite so I used it in the video as well. If you're interested in seeing the bass in action or checking out the track here's the link!

MITCH, i am LOVING the bass, and the song is NIIIIIIIIIICE! Love it! Very Catchy and super tight playing. I DIG IT, and subscribed!

Therein lies the risk...the burl should have easily made 10-12 tops, but once you open it up you often find cracks and imperfections that you cannot see on the surface.

Another great example -- We have just one Pink Ivory log left in the shop suitable for FB's. We just cut it in half last week. It has been sitting in the shop for over 20 years. Size-wise it could yield 20-30 FB's. Sadly, given the amount of checking inside we will be lucky to get 3 or 4 FB's. We might actually only get 2!

You when you price the really rare, exotic stuff, all of that has to get factored in...

J

Its very reassuring that you guys at the shop take time and make sure you put out the best quality piece. It would really be bad if yall just chased the money and numbers and sell woods with many imperfections to people.

Ok, I've held off long enough, here's some pics Jason sent me yesterday of my new fodera due the first week in January! Presentation grade Madrone burl top over alder, it'll get dual coils. It's great to see the man himself carving away wood on my soon to be done first custom fodera :).

nice - what is your production date ? :)

Aww man, I was really hoping my next bass could have pink ivory as a fretboard, im guessing it'll all be gone by the time I get around to ordering #2.

It is surprising that the word "overpriced" showed up in your post...particularly in this Fodera Club thread :smug:

Ever since playing and owning one, I've never considered a Fodera to be overpriced. I have other basses but they don't do for me what the Foderas do. For the straps otoh, I prefer the cheaper Levy. But I do own both brands. Unlike most who seem to want to dwell on price.
