I just got sent a video of a band I played with from LA the other night on the Nick and Artie show on Direct TV/Sirius radio....brought the Fodera and they had a sweet Fender Bassman + 610 waiting for me. It was self biasing and could switch between 25 and 100 watts and had a separate overdrive channel that sounded killer. Anyway, here's the clip....dude's freestyle is ridiculous!

Sounded great man! Excellent playing, and you're right, that amp sounded great. It helps having a Fodera pumping through that rig.

I got bitten by playing an MG 5 for about 20 minutes. The first thing I did was a scaler run (whole tone thingy from low F through 2 octaves) up and down the neck and i was amazed at how I didn't have to fight against any string tension, it just wasn't present, therefore it felt effortless. I use a 3 fingered right-hand approach and the 3rd finger usually feels most of the tension; but not with the Fodera. So the playability factor was the decider for me.

My first experience wit Fodera, was a 1984 monarch that I had received from Garey. The same thing happened to me. It was so effortless that it almost felt like I was playing air bass! I could do techniques on that bass that I couldn't do on any basses which preceded it. 4 foderas later. I am still blown away at the playability, tone, craftsmanship, and the attention to detail. I have a new 33" scale monarch due to be completed in march or April. And I am so excited!

Since we're on the topic of Brazilian Rosewood, does anybody have any experience (or know of anybody that does) travelling out of the country with it? I've read that you can get your bass confiscated if you don't have proper import documents when crossing the boarder. Does anybody know what AJ does with his presentation?

We do not offer any dovetail 6-string basses because we worry that the tension on the joint might cause structural weakness down the road.

Remember that the Viceroy was originally designed as a Mike Pope Signature model. The shape can certainly be used on any instrument -- it is just that no one has ordered the Viceroy shape yet in a neck-through format.

Forget about the removable FB extension on a neck-through. We'd never agree to do it -- it would be cost prohibitive.

I remember Jason saying something along the lines of "it'd be too expensive labor wise and not worth it" or something. I'm sure they'd have no problem with doing a Viceory shaped dovetail / neck-thru, just probably not with the detachable fretboard piece or moveable pickup.
