My Imperial show up this morning, this is the best way to wake up on a Saturday morning, someone knocking at the door and FedEx holding my Fodera. This Bass Smokes WoW. Unbelievable sound.

I might be wrong but I suspect that that is a bass which Fodera luthier Vadim Medved made for himself out of regular working hours. If it had been made for a customer I'm sure we would have known about if beforehand -Fodera wouldn't have kept that one quiet and seriously, it would have been a hugely expensive bass to order new can't see many people paying close to $20,000 for a bass like that and then painting it in sea foam green with a ladybird on the headstock!? But it was made in the Fodera shop with all their wood and parts and techniques regardless. Would be interesting to know whether or not it has a serial number.

I wonder if it has a top under that paint?

Apologies to Fodera if my hypothesis is incorrect.

as far as i know, that is incorrect.

afaik, it was made for a friend of theirs, who i think also had the alembic/fodera hybrid made (and some deep pockets).

i had bugged them about doing this as early as 1988. when joey told me they did this bass, i insisted (!) that they make me mine. since mine is from 2003, and it took a few years to make, this probably went down in the late 1990s.

(when i somehow come up the scratch, i want a fretless 12)


vadim's bass is a 33-inch fretless 10-string, which may have been influenced by mine ;-) i played his, it's nice.
