It was never a formal "model." We made several of that shape over the years. It could still be ordered new...there just haven't been any requests for them in a while...

I think that in the end he decided he preferred the Ken Smith tone which would explain why he sold/is selling this bass. Can't remember the guy's username here though - it's been about 5 years since I last remember him posting. I do remember him telling me that that bass does have a fancy top under that black paint, so if you like the bass but not the finish, you could always strip it and go with the natural wood look.

By the way, what is the story with the 'Edwards model' Fodera? Who was Mr. Edwards, who did he play with? Why was the model discontinued? I really like the body shape of the Edwards models.

Small screwdriver pushed gently through the input jack will do the trick...

This is probably a dumb question but I'm trying to change the battery in my emperor II elite, I've taken the screws out but the cover is so snug I can't get it off. I don't want to pry it out with a screwdriver and risk damaging the wood. Any hints?

For 55 Bar, hit [Invalid or Expired Link Removed] and then "Who's Playing". They keep it up to date, a few weeks out. Mike doesn't seem to have a lot of out of country gigs in March ([Invalid or Expired Link Removed]) so he might be there. Mon and Wed 10PM shows seem to be his regular gig.

On this list - http://www.ny.com/clubs/jazz/ - I've had mostly good experiences at Birdland, Blue Note, Blue Water Cafe, Fez, Iridium, Knitting Factory, Smalls, Zinc Bar.

A while ago there were a couple of cables for sale pn the fodera site-not sure if that is still so.
They were called the Calista and The Elara Cable.What's the deal with those?
is one an instrument and one a speaker cable?
Any more info on those available?

Wow, that was a really long time ago -- at least 3.5 years. Anyway, we used to have our own cables made for us. The Calista was a higher end version than the Elara, but both were / are quite excellent. They are both instrument cables. We stopped having them made because financially it just made zero sense to be in that segment of the business. I regularly use both of them still...

so, woke up two hours earlier than my alarm . . . mind wanders. somehow i start obsessing about the idea of ash fingerboards and wondering if fodera (anyone?) has done them.

also, made me wonder about tulipwood and what it sounds like as a fingerboard.

jason, care to waste some more of your precious time?

I used to have a bass with a tulipwood fingerboard....long time ago. I believe it's actually considered a rosewood. It's actually a really nice fingerboard wood. I remember it having a similar snap like maple but warmer.

Nope. He just had that bass on his site when I brought it! Actually he regret selling that tulipwood Emperor to me. So he got new one and I played that today. It had 24 frets and Dual coils. It was great and very very beautiful. I also played his 35' 4 string Emperor II with mahohany body and ebony fingerboard. Awesome sound!

Not selling my tulipwood, but selling my Emperor Elite 5 :)
