For long lasting strings do nothing.....

In my experience of player I've boiled or cleaned strings with alcool many times. But the strings returnet quite well clean and good playing but than cleaned or boiled last less.

A friend of mine give me the reason, because the dirty and fat permeate tru rounds into the strings faster than it happens normally boiling or solvent cleaning them.
I've triet to let them dirty and fatted, not aestetically good but otherwise they are lasting much much longer, withouth repentine decays of boiled or alcool cleaned strings.

In My Honest Opinion

I won’t discount boiling strings or alcohol wipes or Fast Fret. We all need to individually find what gets us through the gigs.

For myself, I’ve done all the above, but when it’s said and done, I just wash up before a set or show when possible, then wipe the strings down well afterwards. Anything past a month with strings is considered a bonus. I play a lot and a good bit of that is slap. Plus I like somewhat stiff, taut strings and strings seem to lose that after a few weeks.
