For the visually impaired T'Ber - glasses or contacts?

none! i wear my glasses during practice but take them off at gigs.

i have a very small disposition though in terms of my sight so i almost dont need glasses.

Everyone in our band wears glasses, typicaly our guitar player and drummer wear contacts at gigs, sometimes the singer does too, and I always stick to my geek goggles.

I have both, and I'll wear either to a gig depending on how I feel that night. If I've been wearing my contacts all day at work and I know a show will go close to 2 or 3 in the morning, odds are I won't wear my contacts.

I wear glasses (and have since third grade or so), and do wear them on the gig. I do have to wear a cord on them, around the back of my head/neck, to keep them from sliding down too much when I'm sweating and moving around. But I usually wear a knit cap that makes the cord hard to see.

I should think about something like that...my glasses slide like crazy, and I hate seeing band video where I'm pushing them up. Looks like a tubby Clark Kent playing bass. (lol)

I normally wear glasses during the week....however, for gigs it's contacts or blindness. Glasses would fall off my face in the first minute of the gig, there's just no way that would work for me.

Contacts! Haven't taken my glasses out of my case in about 4 years. I guess the more you wear them, the less you can part with them...

Like a nice Jazz Bass, or underwear.

It depends on what I'm playing. A drumline show where I have to emote a lot, no glasses. A jazz gig on the other hand always has the glasses.

I've been wearing contacts for what seems like an eternity now.

I've considered surgery but haven't come around to it just yet.

I can't stand wearing glasses unless I am doing something completely low key. Chillin' watching the boob tube in bed - working on my bass in the garage (glasses help with the protection factor - otherwise, I'd go for contacts there too).

But I am interested in surgery. It'd be nice to never have to think about glasses or contacts again! Waking up and being able to see first thing would be a real treat!

I've never been able to war contacts - astigmatism. Now I'm 58 and wear bifocals.

Glasses don't hurt you. wear them. Even if you wear contacts, you still need a pair of glasses because you don't wear contacts all the time.

Contacts get too irritating for me if there's smoke. However glasses seem to fog up too fast if I sweat, so I just take them off when I'm playing.

I agree that excessively smoky rooms can tend to dry out contacts - but contacts actually protect the more sensitive part of they eye from irritants while glasses actually help to trap and concentrate stuff like smoke over your unprotected eyes.

Unless you're wearing goggles, that is.

If you wear glasses at gigs, be sure to get scratch resistant, non-reflective lenses so when the light hits them, you don't blind somebody. There is also a "thin" lens option so it won't look like you're wearing coke bottles. Some frames are very thin and with a wire frame, very unobtrusive.

Hey, you're missing all the women that are checking you out! . I'd put my glasses on just for that reason.They probably think you're being snobbish since you can't respond to or see anything out front.

Option 3 - I wore glasses for 35 years (contacts for some, they generally didn't work out for me) and had LASIK about 5 years ago.

There are pros and cons to the procedure, and the idea of eye surgery can be scary, but I had a great outcome and would highly recommend it.
The key is to find the best surgeon you can - it's not a place to try to save a few bucks.

I can't wait to get LASIK.

I wear glasses because my eyes are too sensitive, wearing contacts just burns like crazy.

I leave my glasses in the car and never wear contacts. I sweat too much for glasses anyway, and the beautiful challenged look better without them!
