Not sure what to say... There's too many issues with this thing. But he's fooling himself if he thinks he can get that kind of $ for it. Anyone who would pay that much for a bass is smarter and knows what to look for, or at least what looks wrong.
I don't know much about Jazz basses in general. Maybe someone could point out the glaring issues for me.
Is it just my eyes or are the letters in the word JAZZ a little wonky?
I don't even know where to begin.
The neck is clearly a fake, but lets pretend its a Fender:
Bullet truss rod is a 70's thing.
Maple f/b is a 70s thing
Decals are all wrong (Google it and see for yourself).
OK - that's all I got time for. I'll let someone else point out the late 70s/early 80s P Special bridge and thumb rest, as well as some other.......issues.
Even without PayPal it'll be in a public place, so hey other than actually buying the bass you won't get robbed.

This kind of informative post is gold. Thanks for helping folks like me learn. The decals looked off to me, but I didn't know about some of the other stuff.
Dang! A '65 Jazz for 1400 bucks!! Deal of a lifetime; buy buy BUY!!! 
Tupac got shot on the Strip after a Tyson fight. Just sayin'.
It is a 1965 that's been heavily modded. It has a replacement neck, with custom decals. It has a high mass bridge for that "modern, sustainy" sound. It has a replacement body and electronics that have been "road-worn." Intrinsically, it's still that '65 Jazz. He started with that brass thumb rest back in the 70's, and caught the modding bug. After that he couldn't be stopped. It's the Kim Kardashian of basses. No original parts, but still Kim.
The neck looks more akin to something that came out of the Louisville Slugger factory than Fender's, aged by the time honored method of "shove it in an oven and hope it doesn't delaminate". And the "Jazz Bass" logo will haunt my dreams until my death. So poor. And no Paypal, so no recourse. I hate these people. They know what they've got.
Check out how the lower right corner of the pick guard laps up onto the control plate. I don't think CBS would have allowed that sort of thing.
