I know it's very hard to import Skylines to the US, because of issues with emissions and safety not being compliant with US regulations, not to mention that Skylines were only ever made in right-hand-drive.
It's very hard to import more or less any car to the US though, unless there's a very similar model already available in the US, because, even for a one-off, they have to go through expensive safety and emissions testing - the cost of this puts most manufacturers off, let alone individuals!
Apparently it's possible to get anything up to an early R34 Skyline into the US, through a loophole in Canada where imported cars over 10 years old can be brought in without too much fuss - then the car is just brought down to the US and the title adjusted.
Mechanics don't drive Fords... Am I the only one totally underwelmed by the new porky mustangs? They weigh as much as a lexus ls430! I would never buy a car from a company that treats us mechanics so badly.
As a matter of interest for any of us in RHD countries... if you're admirers of US cars and trucks, there's a place in Manchester (here in the UK) that specialises in RHD conversions of Mustangs, Dodge Rams and Ford F-150s... check them out! They export too...

Performance wise (imo) there is always room for improvement, but by the time you pack the car full of all the options everone has to have, it's no wonder it weighs in like a battleship.
Fwiw I was totally underwhelmed by the new GTO.

The new GTO was never meant to be a successor to that famous nameplate... it's a born-in-Australia Holden Monaro dressed up in Pontiac colours, because GM thought they had a good marketing angle for it. The Monaro is a nice-looking, comfy, fast, driftable and fairly inexpensive V8 coupe, but it's not a modern interpretation of the classic GTO. That's where Pontiac went wrong, trying to convince everyone it was.
