Fortress One for metal?

I didn't ask what is best, but if this specific bass is a proven choice for metal styles or not... I'm just looking for a solidly built bass that I could use for generally darker metal styles, like doom, black metal and similar music.

Play the fortress. Play doom metal songs on it. Are you satisfied with the sound? Are you satisfied with the feel? Try different genres and pickup configs and tone settings. Does it do other stuff that you like as well. Test another solid bass (like a J) and do the same thing. What did the fortress have that made you like it better? Try some more basses and compare. Make an informed decision.

Honestly, what it comes to for black metal is personal preference and whatever can cut through the mix over the wall over distortion your guitarist are going to be putting out. This question gets a lot of resentment because metal players really play any bass.
