found wood in my bass

Hi,
I just bought my first double bass and found wood shavings along with some large wood chips. Did I get ripped off?

Hey, at least you know the bass is made of real wood! The maker's vacuum cleaner was broken that day, I'd guess. You can shake those shavings out through the F-holes. Fun!

Ya it was kind of like shaking a pick out of a guitar. Except there's twenty times more picks, the holes are half the size, and instrument was three times the size. They came out but don't want to do it again for sure

Be glad there weren't a couple of little bits of hide glue bouncing around in there. They sound like tiny ball bearings.
