Thanks for the correction. Truly not a horrible deal considering the price of pedals these days. I decided to go on another rat hunt and wow things have gone up since my last pedal dive.

That's easy, because it's way too few:

- Ampeg SVT
- Ampeg B15
- Orange AD200
- Bassman
- MESA 400

That should be it. NO GK, Aguilar, Acoustic, EDEN, MarkBass, Noble, Trace Elliot, SWR, Peavey, Hartke, Ashdown Tech 21, Dual Showman, nothing...

There's a lot of IR cabs in there but I know a lot of bassists are using their own ones.

Notable bass amps are two SVTs, a portaflex, two Mesa 400s, an orange 200, an bassman and the fractal bass amp model (which is surprisingly good and versatile).

Don’t restrict yourself to just bass amps though. I’ve been using the hiwatt guitar amp for some chunkier sounds in my Metallica cover band and it sounds fantastic. I’ve also gotten some interesting stuff out of the plexi models. A lot of the older guitar amps with no master volume can work well for bass since they were really just designed to be loud more than anything, just have to be careful with EQ and gain.

Just to dig a little deeper....

There are 2 modeled versions each of the SVT & Mesa 400. The Ampeg B15 is the Porta-Bass (portaflex), and there's also a unique FAS Bass amp model.
Of course, the old Fender Bassman models can be used and set to not fart out (unless you want that) as they do in the real world.
As @Challenger2 mentioned, the other "guitar" amp models can be used effectively for various tone styles. I've also used the HiWatts and Marshalls for different flavored vintage tones.

Though I like to keep my presets lean, I've lately been splitting my signal Hi-pass/Lo-pass, with the high-passed path getting various types of OD & distortion. This is where using the guitar amp models can be a great alternative to using a drive pedal model, and using the 4 channels to select from various amps and/or gain levels. With the fundamental low end preserved in the lo-pass path, you can get really aggressive with overdriving an amp model without fear of losing bottom end, or having the low end cause unwanted/premature overdriving the input gain in undesirable ways.

Don't forget also the Drive block has the Darkglass model, which can be used on its own as a complete core bass tone without a Cab block. I'm looking forward to the SansAmp GED that is supposed to be getting its own model.

I agree, that the missing Acoustic, Aguilar, GK and SWR models, for starters, are disappointing. BUT...it is what it is. IMHO, there are a lot of features that help me get past these omissions. Thankfully, I'm an Ampeg guy but I'd definitely use the other models if they were there.

Cool! I actually never had a problem with the tracking of the pitch block and was able to get an OC-2-ish sound when using it combined with the dry signal. But when wanting to use it synth-wise with Octave one or Octave two only, it sounds nothing like my good old BOSS OC-2. So I was interested in trying a different approach and see what it sounds like.

Edit: Oh wow, I have just watched the video and it really sounds much better than the pitch algorithm. Nice!!! Definitely gonna try this one out! Thanks for the tip!

I am a tube amp freak.
I had a lot of amps (Orange, Ampeg, Hiwatt, Fender, ...)
Once I tried a Kemper but it felt not right :-)
I didn't get the access to the Desktop App in a short time and it felt not road worthy.

Now I am selling my Fender Superbassman because fender is even less road worthy than kemper in europe (Bad Fender support in EU)
I recognized the quad cortex and after that the fractal.
How difficult is it to set up a cool live rig? Do I need something else for set up or live?
Do I need a notebook for live to change settings?

Do you know which product you’d be looking at? FM3 vs FM9 vs Axe FX 3?

You shouldn’t need a laptop to change settings live unless you’re rebuilding your rig from scratch. You can assign 10 parameters as global quick change parameters and another 10 as per preset quick change parameters, plus navigate into any blocks that aren’t covered by those 20. The only thing that’s a bit tedious without a laptop is reorganizing blocks and signal flow.

I like big things -> Axe FX3
Fm3 would probably be enough
Maybe Something between Fm9

I have not decided yet.

What would you choose?
I am selling a lot of gear right now so money is not the problem.
Do I need a PA speaker for making a set up?
Or earphones are good for that?
