Hi folks! Im interested in stepping into the world of upright bass, and there is an affordable one in my area. I dont really know much about these instruments, and I couldnt find too much info about them (I found some stuff about Shar music...looks like they might be affiliated?)

Anyways if you guys have any info about these basses Id love to hear! Its about 2 hours from my apartment, so Id like to know that its worth while before making the drive.

Theres the link to the bass if it helps.

Thanks!

Mystery-meat Chinese plywood bass, as far as I can tell. Schedule a visit with Bob Ross in Denver.
Great advice! Thank you! I just mentioned him to a trumpet player friend of mine who said all of the bass players hes played with speak very highly of him. Ill wait until I have more of the cost saved up and set up a meeting with him.
I know this question has a lot of answers and has already been asked, but Ill ask it again since you have insight to the specific shop Ill be visiting. How much should I expect to spend for an intermediate bass? I want to keep it as budget friendly as possible, but I also dont want to waste my time trying to make crap sound and feel good. (doesnt sound like thats an issue at his shop!)

It's possible to get very lucky in a private sale like I did, but the odds are against you. New players are usually advised to budget around $1500. I believe Ross is a Shen dealer, and their SB-80 is a perfectly serviceable instrument, as are Eastman, Strunal and others. It's as much about finding an instrument that speaks to you as it is about not buying crap.
