CT Music Educators Association (CMEA) uses etudes from the Jim Snidero Book "Jazz Conception" book (21 Etudes, not Bass Lines) for their annual High School Regional jazz festival auditions.
Here is a free video lesson I have created for those interested in studying the CMEA's 2025-2026 required bass etude "Rose" (a contrafact of Honeysuckle Rose) along with as some basic bass line creation ideas, appropriate for intermediate (or even some beginner) students. I hope you will enjoy and benefit from this.
If you or student wish to purchase the book, it is available here (I receive no compensation for this):

If you are high school student and are considering pursuing a music major or minor in jazz bass studies, I hope you will check out music degree programs at the University of CT ; hint: we're more than just basketball
UConn is an ideal university for those seeking a double degree in music and another discipline.
