i know you're always busy with being a touring musician and what not, but i was wondering what you liked to do while on your down time. anyways, good luck with everything.

I like to go to Dodger games, go to clubs, weekend parties/BBQ's with my family, and cycling. But what I like to do most is write songs.

When you say family do you mean you are married with kids or you have brothers and sisters etc and parents that you hang out with? All the musicians I meet and that are doing cool things are mid-30s and unmarried but the ones I meet that are married and playing music typically had to sell out to be able to support. Can you speak on this issue a little: having a family and being an artist with integrity.

Married with a daughter, yes.

I do a lot of different stuff, so I probably have already long since sold out. But I do turn down some pretty suspicious tours. So I suppose integrity factors in, sure. I'm known for slightly cooler records than the mainstream I guess, so luckily I get hired for that sort of thing usually.

curious what kind of stuff you turn down. Its ok if you cant be specific. just thought I'd ask.
I always feel a little weird turning down gigs, for any reason. But at this point, there is just some stuff I dont wanna do anymore.

Drastic, I'm afraid I can't really say what I've turned down out of respect for those artists. But there is usually one or two a year that are mostly just too poppy.

just wanted to add, thanks for your time, and contributing to this forum with you thoughts and insight.
...so yeah, any advice on how I could "sell out" more, in a good way. I've always disliked the term "sellout."
