Frequency Central Custom Tube OD on its way!

My vid doesn't really do it justice,
it really shines at lower gain OD
& I kept it cranked throughout..

The more distorted sounds are ok,
kind of a unique, Sabbathy-doomy thing,
But I never keep it up there.

The mild saturation's sounding subtle and natural, it's transparent, touch sensitive.. with a very noticeable increase in sustain.
When my video first begins, it's set to my default setting for a few seconds.

Here's the next one, for Kreken. This one has a 3 knob Marshall tonestack. I just gotta wire it up inside......

I wonder if I should email him to tell him about the pics. Nah! It can be a surprise!

This has the old stock graphics,
before he switched to the new, etched enclosures, Nice Rock n Roll vibe..

I have ordered one from Rick. Mine will have a three band Marshall tone stack, the standard bypass switch, dirt switch, and EQ bypass. Mine will be a little larger to accomodate the dirt and eq switches being foot accessible.

I let him choose the graphics/look. It is not fancy graphics, but it is really clean. It is affectionately called the Bass Overdrive Deluxe.

I cannot wait.

That's a difficult one
I had the SFT for a couple of weeks,
I liked the type of gain it gave me,
I remember it gave me a change in my EQ that I didn't like.

I kept turning the pedal on and off,
A/B'ing between the low gain and bypassed signal..
To me, the basic "shape" of the tone changed too much,& the bass sounded better with it bypassed.
Maybe a loss of growliness?
just a change in the midrange that bugged me.. I had plans to sell it & get a Pork Loin, which I never got.

I'm also very picky when it comes to overdrive, compression too.
I like a certain transparency from my pedals, I like a very clear, hi-fi tone.
My video was recorded quickly on my IPod, w my 28.6" scale Ibanez Mikro..
I left the gain kind of high here
so It may or may not reflect that,

but nevertheless, I thought the SFT did what it claimed, it just wasn't for me.

btw, I keep my "dirt" switch on for my default tone
(w the gain very low)
the switch adds another subtle layer of dirt,or sizzle..
It also adds a more natural quality to the milder breakup IMO.

if u want a literal explanation of what the switch does:

"Re the Dirt switch - it sends the output of the second tube stage back into it's input via back to back diodes and a frequency tuning cap. Kinda hard to explain how it works, but it's a trick used in solid state overdrives like the TS. I've never seen it used in any other tube crcuit."

Today my Kreken Overdrive arrived!! Can't wait to try it in a band environment. It has a wide spectrum of sounds available, but I really like how it does the tube amp-breakup thing. Below is a quick demo I did. You can hardly hear the breakup, but that's what I was going for. The specs of my pedal is covered earlier in the thread. The dirt-switch is off throughout the clip. The blend is set to "10"(no clean signal).

Signal chain: 1982 Squier JV P-bass with D'Addario flats and foam mute recorded straight into Logic through a Line6 Toneport UX1(no amp sim, no effects).

The clip is divided into four parts.

1. Clean bass(the last note has a digital distortion. I'm sorry!!!)
2. OD on, EQ off
3. OD on, EQ flat(5, 5, 5,)
4. OD on, EQ set to sound similar to clean bass(b4, m4, t6)

Thanks Rick!

Yes, I'm a very happy customer! I'm doing gigs with the pedal tomorrow, Friday and Saturday. Really looking forward to that! Here's another clip. Same settings as the previous one, except I turned the gain knob up a tad. This way you can hear more breakup and grunt. Me like!!!

Sorry about the high frequency that sometimes pops up, it's a result of no grounded outlets in my building.

Solid sounding overdrive clips..!

I just received a beautiful old LP custom as a birthday present from my wife,

I've been playing my guitar through my bass rig, with my Frequency Central OD it's working out fine.
It sounds great with a Les Paul, until I get a guitar rig, this works beautifully.
the fact that it's wired for bass only gives me a thicker sound.
