Fret Size - 6130 vs. 6230 vs. 6105

Nah...I think you'll dig it. I have a Lakland 55-02 that is a couple years old and it has tiny fret wire. Fret's are fine on it, and the action is medium-low with no issues. It feels great.

I just re-read this and realized you said Warmoth. Warmoth necks are steel reinforced, and I don't think you're going to get a really woody tone out of one -- so I'd go with Jumbo fret there to get the most of the clarity the steel in the neck gives you. I had a Valenti like that and it had great evenness and clarity in the mix.

If you want warm/woody go with USACG and vintage frets.

Yeah I am probably getting a hard/birdseye maple neck with an indian/brazilian rosewood from Warmoth, so fairly standard Fender sound. I actually think I am going to get the 6105, which is narrow and tall, so it is somewhere in between the two.

Warmoth necks do not sound like fender necks. USACG is closer.

I didn't like the frets in my 5501. I re-fretted it with stingray sized frets. (Medium jumbos i think). Its feels great to play now!

Aren't 6150s kind of the standard "Fenderish" frets for a bass?

6230 all the way man...big frets work great for guitar, but are unnecessary for bass. SS will sound different than the standard nickel alloy, so i'd stay away from that. also, warmoth now offers graphite stabilization ala USACG (and like Sadowsky) instead of the old steel rods they used for a while. Much better!

Aren't most of the bass necks in the Warmoth Showcase outfitted with 6150 fretwire? That doesn't make it the best choice for me or anyone else, but it does suggest that it's something of a "default" for them.

The 6105 fret's are what i use. they feel better and i like the tone. my fret board is pau ferro seem's to have a little more edge with my p bass.
