Fretless 5

Hi guys and girls I'm looking for a reasonably prices 5 string fretless and I think I narrowed it down. I really like the cort curbow 5 string and the bubinga top fretless 5 brice on Rondomusic.com the problem I see here is that the cort is made out of synthetic material (not real wood) so I was wondering for the price of these things is it worth it and is the tone good or bad?

Go for the Brice 5.

I can recommend the ESP LTD B205 fretless. I have one and it's a great fretless.

I can recommend the ESP LTD B205 fretless. I have one and it's a great fretless.

Used, I've seen them sell for under $400. New they're usually $499.

I just sold mine.. modded with a case.. shipped to Ca.. I the OP had popped up here over the past 6 weeks I had the thing on sale.. The Brice was not bad at all.. the only reason I sold it was because I also have a U.S. Cirrus 5 fretless..

I've been searching for a nice affordable fretless 5. Not a ton of options as im not a fan of basswood bodies and sythnetic fingerboards which the majority of fretless 5s for a reasonable price have. Had a mim Fretless Jazz I liked, but they don't make them in 5 strings. Also really really like the sbmm Ray34cafl but again no 5 string love

BassMods might be an option. Here's an example of one of their basses I found that's a 5'er : Invalid Link Removed

I think they just offloaded some of their bass lines. I saw a BassMods PJ Fretless on Ebay the other day going for about half price, and full price is already really reasonable for what's in them. Not sure what's up, maybe they're just replacing them with new lines.

My main fretless, and favorite bass is one of the Douglass fretless fives they sell for $189. I actually bought it on here, in pieces. Apparently, the preamp had fried, and the previous owner stripped all the finish off. This thing weighs nothing, balances well, plays like butter, and sounds like the voice of God.

Big +1 to what @mark beem said. I also have one of them and it's a great bass. And when you factor in the price, can;t really go wrong
