Fretless Jazz...without the fret lines!!

Hi,

I'm new here, but not new to bass - I'm a comeback player after about 10 years. I played Rock, Blues, and Pop on an American Fender Jazz my entire time on playing (I guess 10 - 15 years prior to my break).

Currently, my primarily instrument is trumpet and became very interested in jazz while studying - sometimes I think it would be cool to have a bass in my woodwind/brasswind concert band.

I would love to get a Fender Jazz fretless, just because I am so familiar with that neck that making the transition would be that much easier. But I would prefer to not have the fret lines - I guess current production Fender doesn't make a fretless Jazz without the lines.

Can anyone suggest a solution? I see old Made in Japan Fenders on eBay for almost as much as a new one...are they any good? Any other ideas? No strict budget here - when I get one I will commit to it, so I'm not afraid of spending on quality.

Thanks all!
