Fretless P bass?

SX,
Warmoth,
Fender Tony Franklin,
Most boutique Fenderish guys.

I made my own, out of a Squier VM Fretless neck, a Squier Affinity P body, and a really nice P pickup, play it every day now. And it was even real good with the stock pickup.:)

EDIT: You could put a nice one together from a Squier P, and a Mighty Mite fretless neck, for about 200-250, I'd expect, less if you can find a body and pickup used.

This one is only a mile away from me at a local shop...

$1200, not bad..

Wow, that's a deal!

I saw a 1970's P bass at Sam Ash, looked exactly like that one, minus the bridge cover, for $1600 or $1700. (Dammit, I can't remember the price right now.:hmm:) This one was in worse condition too. The pickup was kind of grungy, and the bridge saddles and springs were rusty. The fingerboard was immaculate, but the grain was plainer than the Rosewood in those pictures.

Do I see some birdseye on that neck?

I've got a S9xxxxx Fender Precision fretless neck, I've had it on my '78 P a few years ago. I also prefer fretless basses with a bridge pickup.

Yep. Gotta have the bridge pickup.

If I ever bought one of those 70's P basses, the first thing I would do is have it routed for a J pickup in the bridge pickup, because the soloed J pickup is pretty much my main tone.
It would probably destroy the resale value instantly, but who cares.

So... what are experiences with Mighty Mite necks?

On their website it says that the necks, both for precision and jazz, are 1" 11/16 at the nut.
So that's 1,6875"... a tad wider than the Tony Franklin neck.

Does it fit on any precision bass?

I might pick up a Squier CV50 again if such a neck will fit on it. :hmm: :)

And will that neck fit on a Squier Jazz VM?

Interesting. :)

I have one of their necks, and its very nice, but mine is fretted.

It will not fit a CV50(you mean the one with the single coil, no?), as they have a square butt end, unlike most Fender/ish necks.

On what bass did you install it?
Will it fit on fender-squier-ish jazz basses?

I installed it on a Fender MIM Jazz body, but it will fit any Fender, or Squier, barring the 51P, and the 70's P with the mudbucker, as they have square heels.
