Fretless series/parallel PJ wiring help - Blend or switch? TBX or no load tone?

I finally decided to upgrade the pickups on my defretted 1994 yamaha rbx 350 wired vol blend tone.
I plan to use a fretless in my current project so I thought of giving it an upgrade, going for a Dimarzio dp126 PJ set or a relentless PJ set if I can find one for a decent price.

While I'm at it I will change the tone pot since it is not in the best shape with a no load or TBX tone with a 0.33 cap.
I plan to add a 500k push/pull pot for series/parallel on the volume to bypass the blend pot ( found a good wiring here on the forum).
My 2 questions are:

1.Should I just ditch the blend (I think ungrounded already, will post pics) and go with a 3 way switch? I enjoy the simplicity of a switch and I had luck on another bass with pickup balancing when both are 100% on, but maybe on a fretless PJ a blend would be more useful.

2. Is a TBX worth it or a no load tone pot would be "enough"? I can see the TBX being useful in series to regain some highs, but also for harmonics.

I love series/parallel switch on a Jazz Bass. I tried it on a P/J. For me it did not do well. It detracted from the P pickup but do whatever you want.

I was lucky on another bass with series/parallel and thought it sounded nice on a PJ by checking some demos of the fender boxer PJ reissue (aka jazz bass special) which should be wired in series when the switch is in middle/both pickups.

I'm worried two split coil pickups might sound a tad dark in series, hence the idea of the TBX or No-load tone pot besides the Dimarzio recommended 500k pot and 0.33 cap.

We will see, anyway series/parallel is a cheap and reversible mod, worst case scenario I'll use it mostly in parallel and call it a day

Everything can be pickup selective. My try may not have had pickups conducive to this. I can only suggest if you really want to give it a try. The worse that can happen is you end up putting it back as it was while the best might be they are both conducive to this mod.
