I'm looking for 4 string fretted fender. I recently played a MIJ presicion fender bass and it felt and sounded excellent. I noticed that the frets were very skinny. it's a reissue made in 95-96 year.
I also recently played a new fender jazz geddy lee, which fender says has medium jumbo frets. and I loved the geddy feel as well, and the sound (compared to mother MIM I played that day) but don't recall noticing the frets.
is there a reason for skinny or fat frets? is skinny a vintage thing? do precision and jazz have different frets? what does medium jumbo mean? much thanks for any input.
