Frett or Unfrett?

So i have a dano longhorn reissue bass and i just ordered a valenti j5. I realized i have no frettless and would love to have one. I have been seriously thinking that , due to the dano being hollow, it would make a great frettless. is there any reason this wouldnt work?

sounds fine to me,
you always need a fretless. you might not always use it, but it is a great option to have especially doing sessions and the producer is like, "hey man i'm not feeling it, can you get a 'mwa' sound"
defretting a bass is cheap too

Yeah I did that to my backup bass too. It's pretty much worthless now cos it buzzes in a few spots, but it was fun. Watch out for what the fingerboard wood is, cos that'll affect heaps. A maple fb sounds pretty yuck fretless. Rosewood is good, but roundwounds will eat it up like pasta if you don't get epoxy on it.

Always wanted to defret a Dano. I think it actually might do a remarkable upright impression. Please let me know how this goes...keep us posted.
