Fretted & Fretless Status/Warmoth Builds (NBD)

Finished my most recent Warmoth build last weekend. Basically the fretted brother to my fretless that I completed this past winter. Both have a hand rubbed Tried and True Oil finish.

The fretless just growls. Sounds so right and easy to play. The fretted turned out great too. Capable of a wide range of sound can give me a dead on jazz sound and surprisingly a convincing single coil P sound. I'm very happy with them both. They both play great and take a stupid low setup.

Fretless Jazz:

-Warmoth single piece Swamp Ash Body
-Fretless Status Graphite Precision Neck
-Gotoh Ultralight Tuners
-Fender Vintage Bridge
-Mojotone 70's single coil Jazz pickups
-8 lbs 6 oz.

Fretted Modern Jazz:

-Warmoth Chambered Korina body w/Flame Maple top.
-Status Graphite Precision Neck
-Gotoh Ultralight Tuners
-Hipshot vintage bridge
-EMG TWX35 pickups
-EMG BQS Pre. Wired Volume/Volume with push/pull tap on each volume pot
-9 lbs 4 oz

The profile is similar to my 83 but not as wide and sharp feeling. 1 & 11/16 at the nut. Not super thick not super thin. It's really the perfect P bass shape to me. I felt the same way about the Jazz necks before they became too small for me.

The fretwork is unreal and the nut was cut perfectly. Something I can't say for the majority of complete basses I've bought! Rob is great to work with too. These represent my 4th and 5th neck I've purchased from Status. Every time it has been a great experience.

Could you please elaborate a bit more on the last part? - I ask because I´ve preferred Jazz necks as I´ve felt the wider P´s are too chunky and wide. After playing a Tokai Hard Puncher P for a few days I was surprised to go back to Jazz´s 1,5 width - it feels the wider P allows my fretting hand to remain more relaxed which I found surprising (and rather intimidating to be honest as I have a couple jazzes I really like)!

A question only you can answer. I definitely prefer the P myself.

I'd say oval c. Doesn't seem like a flat spot to me. The 16" radius is not noticeable to me. At least not on these necks.

I hear you. My hands aren't very sensitive so you may be more accurate. Either way they are super comfortable necks
