Fretted Vs Fretless

most def both.if i had to have only one it would be my fretted 5.i dont get to play my fretless nearly enough on my gig.

I have been playing for over 20 years, and for the type of music I play (Contempory Gospel) I have never been in a situation where I have wished I had a frettless.

I've never heard of anyone doing it on fretless EB, but I sure don't see any reason why you couldn't.

Well, I can get more like a Me'shell slap sound - or another one I think is brightly percussive when I'm dialed in for that. But as soon as I plug in the Knuckle Quake it becomes obvious that there are can be some differences when frets are involved ; }

You can't compare them to each other, they are both a whole different class of instruments. I play both

I commend both the commisioner and the commishioneree, er, the guy who made it. That's simply beautiful, the Q-Tuners give it a nice visual touch and verily I lust after them. And I know the ergonomics and balance are top rate from playing this fretted one.

They sound balanced and true - they are as uncolored a pickup as any I have ever heard - and they have huge output. If your bass sounds good these things will bring that out - if it doesn't it will bring that out too.

The Q can be adjusted directly in the pickup (via the set screws, though not radically) and the radius of your strings can be adjusted to. Well worth the investment IMO.
